Integrating The Necessities

This Bangor area couple embarked on a journey to transform their newly acquired home, starting with a kitchen remodel that would truly reflect their unique style. The existing island boasted a practical counter height work area accompanied by a bar top seating section. To preserve the structural integrity of the space, two essential posts were cleverly integrated into the island’s design. Understanding the homeowner’s desire for a comfortable seating experience, considering her height of 4’10”, we envisioned a solution that elevated the seating area to a convenient counter height. This modification not only accommodated her needs but also added a touch of elegance to the kitchen.

Color Inspiration

Inspiration struck when the homeowners fell in love with the La Cornue stove, serving as the centerpiece for their dream kitchen. Taking cues from this extraordinary appliance, we crafted a custom Benjamin Moore paint in Swiss Blue for the island. The surrounding perimeter cabinetry and range hood embraced a charming white paint with a tasteful glaze.

The Focal Point of the Kitchen

By removing a closet, repositioning the refrigerator, and ingeniously crafting a dedicated beverage area with additional landing space, we successfully established a striking focal point around the magnificent stove. This allowed for the creation of a seamless doorway leading to the newly designed butler’s pantry tucked behind the stove. This resulted in adding both functionality and sophistication to the kitchen layout. The demolition and rebuild is a service offered with custom kitchen design by Morris Black.

To tie all the new elements together harmoniously, a meticulously selected tile backsplash was introduced. The result is a breathtaking visual impact, and particularly in the vicinity of the stove. The interplay of colors, finishes, and textures culminated in a kitchen that is both a feast for the eyes and a practical space for entertaining guests.
