Traditional Custom Kitchen Design
Traditional kitchens have a formal, elegant look characteristic of American and European homes of the 18th through early 20th centuries. Expect to see: crown and rope molding, fluting, corbels and other trim. If you like Traditional style, you may like raised panel cabinet doors, antique-styled fixtures and wood, stone or other natural materials. Other Traditional styles include Italianate, Georgian, Victorian, Colonial and Farmhouse.
Contemporary Custom Kitchen Design
Contemporary kitchens are described as modern, minimalist and geometric. Characteristics include horizontal lines, asymmetry, and lack of moldings and other ornamentation. Expect to see frameless cabinets, oversized hardware, bold colored laminates or birch, ash and maple, frosted glass and metallic accents. If you like Contemporary, you may prefer man-made rather than natural materials, such as stainless steel, laminate, glass, concrete, chrome and lacquer. Check out styles from the 1940s to the present, especially European styles including Italian, German and Scandinavian.
