Contrasting Kitchen Cabinets in Emmaus, PA by Lydia Bogle
This contrasting kitchen cabinets Emmaus, PA home by Lydia Bogle brings a breath of fresh air. The kitchen features a dark perimeter with a lighter island and coffee bar. Traditionally, two-tone kitchens use a lighter perimeter and darker island. however, by using a lighter island in this kitchen, the space feels more open.
Main Tone—Kaffe Perimeter Cabinets
Kaffe was the main color for these contrasting kitchen cabinets, a rich coffee stain featured on the majority of the perimeter. Choosing this classic finish as the main color for these Vantage “Lincoln” door style cabinets from Kraftmaid Cabinetry was crucial to creating a traditional feel in this Emmaus, PA kitchen.
Contrasting Tone—Linen with Cocoa Glaze Island & Coffee Bar Cabinets
While the Kaffe finish is beautiful, too much dark can make even a large space feel small. That’s why Lydia incorporated some lightness with the Linen with Cocoa Glaze finish on the contrasting island and coffee bar. The antique white provides a beautiful contrast against the darker Kaffe stain but is still soft enough to fit the traditional design. Typically only the kitchen island would feature the contrasting color, but its additional use on the coffee bar is a genius way to break up what would otherwise be an almost monotone wall.
Complementary Elements
Not everything in this Emmaus, PA kitchen is a study of contrasts. The Top Knobs brushed nickel hardware that accents the cabinets was to complement the stainless steel appliances, like the GE Profile™ Series ENERGY STAR® Counter-Depth Fingerprint Resistant French-Door Refrigerator and the GE Profile™ Built-In Convection Double Wall Oven with No Preheat Air Fry and Precision Cooking. The Quartzite Fantasy Brown countertops, which feature brown veining, were also chosen to complement the Kaffe cabinets.
