This traditional white kitchen in Allentown, PA by Morris Black designer Dan Lenner, CMKBD, is a textbook example of how to design a classic white kitchen. Here’s a breakdown of all the elements Dan considered in his custom design and why their combination is so beautifully successful.
All-White Kitchen Cabinetry
There are many whites to choose from. Kraftmaid alone offers Dove White, Cottage, Canvas, and Warm White. Signature Custom Cabinetry has about 10 whites to choose from. If that’s not enough, you can have a custom color match made. (This will add to the expense and lead time).
This particular kitchen has the Lyndale full overlay door style, in “Cottage” paint, from Kraftmaid. It is easy on the eyes and contrasts the white tile backsplash.
Classic Color Palette
While some homeowners prefer a white, marble-like countertop on white cabinetry, some prefer to contrast the cabinets instead. The Viaterra Carbo Brushed Quartz tops selected provide strong contrast, while the surface is reminiscent of soapstone. It is a great fit for this 100+ years old house. The rustic wood-like luxury vinyl plank floor pattern provides some repetition of the countertop color, and the Top Knobs hardware does as well. The floating shelves repeat the wood flooring.
Ample Kitchen Storage
Ensuring ample kitchen storage was incorporated into the design was a top priority for this Allentown, PA client. Dan more than delivered on this request with his upper and lower cabinetry combinations, not to mention the wall of floor-to-ceiling cabinets framing the GE® ENERGY STAR® 27.0 Cu. Ft. French-Door Refrigerator.
