Expanding Kitchen into Dining Room

One of the most common search terms related to kitchen renovations is “expanding kitchen into dining room,” so it’s no surprise that Morris Black executes this request in its designs quite often. From removing walls to create an open floor plan to extending cabinets and providing island seating, they’ve been there and done that. Here are some of Morris Black’s favorite projects.

Blanco Contemporary Kitchen Design

The goal of this design was to expand a small kitchen into the dining room, which was underutilized before the renovation. By removing the separating wall and combining both spaces, the homeowners were able to expand their kitchen with added cabinetry and still offer seating for four at the island.

White Kitchen with Contrasting Island Design

For this design, the homeowners decided to create an open-concept space by opening up the kitchen to the dining room with the removal of the separating wall. Removing the wall immediately made the space feel larger and the added line of sight allowed the dining room cabinets to play off of the dark kitchen island, tying both spaces together.

This project is a great example of how you can incorporate both island seating and a designated dining area in an open concept design.

Dark Kitchen Island with White Cabinets Design

This final design turned a dysfunctional layout into a fully functional, beautiful kitchen and dining space. The designers maximized every square foot by nuzzling a banquette into the bay window instead of going with a traditional table. The banquette plus the island provide more than enough seating for family and friends.
