Award-Winning Kitchen

Designed by Dan Lenner

The kitchen included matching maple cabinetry on the peninsula that separates the kitchen from the family room. The countertop is carefree engineered stone.

Dan Lenner, CMKBD, Senior Designer at Morris Black Designs has won the "Award for Professional Excellence" in the Lehigh Valley Builders Association's "Remodeled Kitchen" category for 2010.

The project was a renovation of a 1980s kitchen. The homeowners wanted better use of space, improved lighting, a second oven and easy upkeep. They also requested to reuse the dishwasher, disposal, oven and keep the existing wood floor.

Maple Veneered CaBinetry

The new kitchen features maple veneered cabinetry in a warm pale gold finish that blends well with the existing floor. The frameless construction maximizes interior space.

The refrigerator was moved to a back wall, and a sleek set-in range topped by a black chimney hood took its place. Black wood trim above the cabinets ties into the cabinet hardware and appliances.

The tile backsplash adds a splash of color. the multiple hues and sizes of the tile look random, but were carefullu planned by the creative homeowner and the tile setter.

The project met all the homeowners' requests, and is a well-balanced blend, both bold and understated. A winner!

Morris Black designers Dan Lenner, Suzanne Joseph and Oscar Acevedo have also won the LVBA contest in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2008 and 2009.
