| As a neighbor of John and Lois Morrell for over 40 years, I just have to say a huge Thank You for assisting this wonderful couple with the design and installation of a new kitchen.. As you already know John is most assuredly a deserving man. I have known him since I was a child and can tell you, since the death of my own father, I consider him like my second one. He gives so much to so many and it fills my heart with joy to see a kindness such as yours being offered to him in return. One example is how this couple came to my aid with meals prepared by John, during the Blizzard of '93, when my own father James, per his last wish, lay here at home to await the outcome of his terminal cancer. I don't know if any of you have had the challenge of taking care of the terminally ill, but I can tell you it's among the hardest things a person can do, especially alone as I was. Lois came to read the Bible to him and the both of them made sure I somehow found the time to actually eat while I took care of my father. I hadn't asked anything at all of these neighbors, they simply did it out of the goodness of their own hearts. Words can never tell you how greatly appreciative I was between their listening ear and their helpful, supportive manner during all of it. It was only about 2 years later when it broke my heart to see John go through all of his surgeries as yet another victim of cancer. He was such a handsome man and as you've seen, his experience has taken its toll on him. Even when he was weak from surgeries and could not consume solid food, but rather food blended into a liquid to drink, he still prepared meals for others on a regular basis - he is that giving of a man. After speaking with him this morning about the contest results, I KNOW FOR CERTAIN this fortunate outcome has been like a breath of new life within this humble man! For it, if I could thank you a billion times, it wouldn't be enough. You are about to give him the most important instruments in his life, short of his love for God and his family. The voters were not mistaken; he is truly a most deserving man. Know that your kind generosity will be shared one thousand-fold throughout the community thanks to your company. A neighbor of the Morrells |
