The Morris Black 100th Anniversary Kitchen-of-a-Lifetime Contest

1. Official Rules: No purchase necessary. A purchase will not increase the chance to win. Contestants can enter The Morris Black 100th Anniversary Kitchen-of-a-Lifetime Contest by submitting a complete Entry by mail to the following address: Kitchen-of-a-Lifetime Contest, The Morning Call Circulation Department, PO Box 4360, Allentown, PA 18105. A complete Entry consists of the following: 1. A completed Registration Form, which can be found in the Sunday, March 30 edition of The Morning Call or which may be downloaded and printed from www.morrisblack.com; 2.; a profile of up to 350 words describing why your nominee deserves a kitchen makeover; 3. a current photo of the nominated kitchen; 4 and the total square footage of the area to be renovated. Photo size cannot exceed 8” X 10”. Photo must be of only the nominee’s kitchen; no persons should be visible. Altered or electronically enhanced images will not be eligible. Limit three (3) photos per entry. Any entry that does not contain all elements will be disqualified. Limit one entry per person. Nominees may enter for themselves, or you may nominate another person. Entries with photographs that do not depict kitchens, are not the entrants’ own original creations, violate the rights of any other person or entity (including but not limited to trademarks or copyrights), and/or contain offensive, defamatory, vulgar or profane content, as determined by the Sponsors in their sole discretion, shall be disqualified. Fraudulent, false, incomplete and/or untimely-received entries also will be disqualified.

The contest begins Sunday, March 30, 2008 at Noon EST and entries are due by 12:00 Noon EST Wednesday, April 16, 2008. The Sponsors reserve the right to change or cancel the Contest at any time without liability. The Sponsors are not responsible for entries that are lost, stolen, late, misdirected, mutilated, tampered with or arrive postage due. Entries are void if incomplete, not legible or if they contain errors. All submissions become the property of the Sponsors and will not be returned.

2. Entry Deadline: Mailed Contest entries must be received by The Morning Call’s Allentown office, 101 North Sixth St, Allentown PA 18105 by 12:00 Noon EST on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 to be eligible to win.

3. Selection of Winner: On or before Wednesday, April 23, 2008 six (6) semi-finalists will be selected by a panel of judges from among all eligible entries based on the following criteria: the suitability of the nominee’s space for a kitchen redesign (50% of the score) and the nominees who are deemed most deserving based on the challenges faced; the generosity shown to others; the contributions made to our community, country or planet; or other characteristics that, in the sole discretion of the judges, make those nominees “unsung heros” (50% of the score). In addition, four (4) alternate semi-finalists will be selected from all eligible entries and will be named a semi-finalist if any of the first chosen six semi-finalists decline further participation. After Morris Black and Sons, Inc. conducts house inspections of semi-finalists’ kitchens, to determine feasibility of renovation, any semi-finalists with unworkable kitchens, as determined in the sole discretion of Morris Black and Sons, Inc. will be eliminated from contention. On or before April 28, 2008, the six (6) semi-finalists will be narrowed to three (3) finalists by the judges based on the same criteria. The three (3) finalists will be notified by April 29, 2008. On Sunday, May 4, 2008, the three (3) finalists will be announced in The Morning Call.

Beginning May 4, members of the public may vote for the Grand-Prize Winner. Individuals may vote for the finalist they feel deserves the renovation by visiting HYPERLINK "http://www.morrisblack.com" www.morrisblack.com from Sunday, May 4 until Sunday, May 11, 2008 at 12 midnight EST or completing the voting form that appears in The Morning Call on Sunday, May 4, 2008 and returning it to The Morning Call by Sunday, May 11, 2008 at Noon EST. One vote per person allowed. Subsequent votes from the same mailing or email address or computer will not be counted. The finalist that receives the most votes from the public by midnight on Sunday, May 11, 2008 shall be declared the Grand-Prize Winner. The Grand Prize Winner will be notified by Tuesday, May 13, 2008. The Grand Prize Winner must be available to meet with the Morris Black Designs staff between Wednesday, May 14 and Monday, May 19. On Sunday, June 1, 2008, three different kitchen designs will be announced in The Morning Call, allowing the readers to vote on which kitchen design the Grand-Prize Winner shall receive. Individuals may vote on the kitchen design they would like to see the Grand Prize-Winner receive by visiting HYPERLINK "http://www.morrisblack.com" www.morrisblack.com and voting by Sunday, June 15, 2008 at midnight EST or completing the voting form that appears in The Morning Call on June 1, 2008 and returning it to The Morning Call by Friday, June 13, 2008 at Noon EST.

4. Prizes: On Sunday, May 11, 2008 at Midnight EST the one (1) Grand-Prize Winner with the highest number of votes will be selected from among the three (3) finalists to win a kitchen renovation provided by Morris Black and Sons, Inc. The Grand Prize renovation will include, in the sole discretion of Morris Black and Sons, Inc., some or all of the following: cabinets, granite countertops, appliances, flooring, tile backsplash, plumbing and electrical, lighting and installation. Approximate retail value of Grand Prize is a maximum of $60,000.00. Value may be lower depending on work and design deemed necessary to complete kitchen renovation in Morris Black and Sons, Inc.’s sole discretion. The Grand Prize Winner will be announced on Wednesday, June 25, 2008. All costs, taxes, fees, and any expenses associated with any element of the prize not specifically addressed above, are the sole responsibility of the prizewinner. All federal, state and local taxes on prizes are the prizewinner’s responsibility. Prize winners will be issued a 1099 tax form for the actual value of the prize. Sponsors shall solely determine the specifics of all aforementioned elements of the prize in the Contest. Some restrictions may apply. Prize cannot be transferred or substituted except at Sponsors’ sole discretion. Sponsors reserve the right to substitute any prize, or portions thereof, with a prize of equal or greater value.

5. Conditions of entry: Sponsors reserve the right to disqualify any entry that it deems to be inappropriate, fraudulent, or contrary to the purpose of this Contest. By entering, each entrant grants permission, without further compensation, to The Morning Call, themorningcall.com or The Morning Call Weekly, Morris Black and Sons, Inc, www.morrisblack.com, any co-sponsors, their parents, subsidiaries and affiliates, agents, and licensees (the “Contest Entities”), to use the entrant’s name, voice and/or likeness, and story, including without limitation all elements of the Entry for promotional purposes in connection with this Contest and Morris Black and Sons, Inc., The Morning Call, themorningcall.com or The Morning Call Weekly. Specifically, the Grand Prize Winner may be asked to allow the kitchen to be included in the Morris Black Designs Kitchen Tour scheduled for October 2008, and by accepting the prize, prizewinner agrees to allow their kitchen to be included. By entering, each entrant agrees (a) to be bound by these Contest rules and the decisions of the Sponsors, which are final with respect to all Contest-related matters, (b) that if selected as a winner, he or she will complete all required tax forms, including without limitation a Form W-9, and will sign a form of release and waiver of liability supplied by The Morning Call, and (c) to release and hold harmless the Contest Entities, from any claim, loss, liability, damage, or injury of any kind arising from the entrant’s participation in the Contest or the receipt or use of the Contest prize and any contest-related travel or activity. The Sponsors reserve the right to revoke a winning entry if winner is found to be ineligible.

6. Eligibility: This Contest is open to individuals at least 18 years of age, with the exception of employees of The Morning Call, Tribune Company, and their subsidiaries and affiliates, Morris Black and Sons, Inc. and those employees’ immediate family members and those residing with those employees. Winners may not have won a prize from The Morning Call in the past thirty (30) days. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. This Contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law. Contest entrant must own his or her own home, which is in suitable condition (as determined by Morris Black and Sons, Inc. or its designees in their sole and absolute discretion), and reside in a geographic area in which Morris Black and Sons, Inc. provides services: Lehigh, Northampton, Bucks, Berks, Montgomery, Carbon and Monroe counties.

7. Rules/Winners’ List: For an additional copy of these Official Rules or a copy of the winners’ list, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope specifying which you are requesting, to The Morris Black 100th Anniversary Kitchen-of-a-Lifetime Contest, Attn: Circulation Department, P.O. Box 4360, Allentown, PA 18105, within 60 days after the Contest end date.

8. Sponsors: Contest sponsors are The Morning Call and Morris Black and Sons, Inc.

9. Internet: If for any reason, the Internet-related portion of this contest is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, tampering, fraud, technical failure, or any other cause which corrupts or threatens the administration, security or integrity of the contest, Sponsors reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to terminate or suspend the Contest or any portion of the Contest. ANY ATTEMPT TO DAMAGE OR UNDERMINE THE FAIR AND LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS CONTEST WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION FROM THE CONTEST. In the event that the Internet voting process fails to operate properly or appears to Contest Sponsors in their sole discretion to be tampered with or tainted with errors, fraud or unfair practices, the Contest Sponsors reserve the right to cancel the voting portion of the Contest and to select the Grand Prize Winner in their sole discretion.
