On Nov. 6, 2014, Morris Black was honored with the Milestone Award from the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce for being a member since 1907. Morris Black, founder of Morris Black in 1908, was also a founding member of the Bethlehem Chamber.
Bob Black, Vice President of Morris Black and the grandson of Morris Black, accepted the award. Bob read an excerpt from a speech given by his father, Sam Black, to the Bethlehem Chamber in November 1964 – almost exactly 50 years to the day! Sam’s speech concluded with an inspirational poem, which Bob shared with the audience.
Our company has a history of community involvement, serving as members or on the boards of organizations such as Skills USA Council, St. Luke’s Health Network, LV Economic Development Corp, United Way of the LehighValley, RenewLV, Valley Youth House, Girls and Boys Club and others. It has been a legacy, inspired by Morris Black’s involvement with civic matters, that has been passed down to the third generation of the Black family, who now run the company.
