Large Contemporary Kitchen in Phillipsburg, NJ
Design Statement: “See the large ceiling beam? The original kitchen was confined to the area behind it, where the refrigerator and oven are now. I designed this kitchen for a general contractor, for his own Cape Cod style home. I was granted a great deal of leeway into how the addition was to be laid out. The kitchen has long, horizontal lines, with wall cabinet doors that lift to open. I love the puffy looking stools the owner selected.” – Dan Lenner

This Large Contemporary Kitchen in Phillipsburg, NJ features KitchenAid appliances and bar stool seating at the centrally located island. The dark painted island cabinetry is repeated along the refrigerator section to tie the two toned cabinetry together.
The built in electric cooktop is a key feature of this centrally located kitchen island. The recessed lighting illuminates the space while the pendant lights suspended above the island add accent lighting.
The mosaic tile backsplash adds dimension the space with a subtle shimmer to reflect light.
One of the coolest features of this kitchen is the KitchenAid retractable down draft system. This 30-inch retractable downdraft vent rises 14 inches to help filter steam from tall stockpots, and remains flush with the cooking surface when not in use.
